Fiss realises the sale of an Italpresse TF 2700 die casting cell and its dismantling and transport

In autumn 2021, fiss machines will start implementing the dismantling of an Italpresse TF 2700 for export.

The successful procurement of the Italpresse TF 2700 also included the relocation over a distance of around 6,000 km. The Italpresse TF 2700 is a die-casting machine without toggle levers and has a clamping force of 2,900 tonnes. It is ideally suited for a diverse, complex production of castings and for frequent mould changes. In addition to the production of automotive parts (engine blocks, gearboxes, oil pans, etc.), it is also used in these production areas: radiators for living rooms, escalator steps, chassis and components for electrical appliances, components for telecommunications, household appliances, electric motors. As a specialist in the casting industry, the general contractor is perfectly familiar with the structures and special features of the machines. In addition, the company provides professional dismantling and relocation services all over the world.

CONSULTING AND NETWORK

A trusting business relationship already existed between the client and fiss machines. through the worldwide network in the used machinery segment and previously successfully completed projects.

The project managers on the customer's side particularly appreciate the specific advice, the extensive specialist casting knowledge and the advantages from the worldwide network. The customer was looking for a casting cell for the production of escalator steps made of aluminium. fiss machines advised the customer on the optimal machine solution, found the suitable used machine and was also responsible for all further steps as general contractor.

PLANNING AND DISMANTLING

When transporting, moving machines and relocating production, the first step is the professional dismantling at the old location. The specialists at fiss have the necessary knowledge and experience and are masters of their craft. Dismantling does not only include the dismantling of the machine. The appropriate preparation, labelling, documentation, cleaning and correct packaging of each individual machine part are just as essential. fiss machines is a reliable partner with around 30 years of experience who plans ahead and keeps an eye on every detail.

The start for the dismantling of the casting cell was in October 2021. For the relocation of the Italpresse TF 2700, the removal of the heavy components via a platform on the 3rd floor had to be designed in this project.

During the dismantling by fiss machines, around 30 employees were on duty at any one time. The dismantling was carried out in several shifts. Work was also done on Saturdays and Sundays. First, the automation equipment and peripheral systems such as KMA extraction systems, tempering units, dosing ovens, Ertl coarse deburring systems and parts labelling were dismantled. The Ertl rough deburring systems and parts labelling were not included in the scope of delivery. Afterwards, the dismantling of the Wollin spray gantry and removal gantry and the final disassembly of the Italpresse TF 2700 die casting machine began.

The entire dismantling process was thoroughly documented. The dismantling team marked and photographed all machine parts for this purpose, and complex work was recorded on video. The customer was informed about the current status and progress of the entire dismantling process.

TRANSPORT AND ASSEMBLY

Through careful planning of the upcoming machine transports or heavy transports, we ensure that the subsequent transport runs smoothly. We check which route is best suited for machine transports or, if applicable, heavy transports. This also includes an analysis of the new machine location before assembly. fiss machines is an experienced partner for the international transport of entire casting plants for every customer. It is also important to know the legal transport regulations in the destination country in advance and it is our job to obtain the relevant permits.

By the beginning of December, all the machine parts had been transported away. The parts were mainly delivered by truck overland, the heavy components were sent by sea freight. The casting unit was the last and heaviest part. In this case, unfortunately, it took us a very long time to get the necessary transport permit. A total of 6 trucks and 5 heavy goods transporters went on the journey for about 2 - 3 weeks. 5 special packages on RoRo or in crates were shipped from Germany.

The customer carried out the erection and commissioning on his own due to cost reasons and the ongoing Corona restrictions. fiss provided the necessary support from Germany in this case.

If fiss is commissioned with the assembly and commissioning, the precise alignment of each individual part and the fine mechanical assembly is carried out by our fitters. Then the electrical and pneumatic reassembly is carried out: All connections are precisely assembled and the necessary supply lines are connected. When the machine is finally ready for operation, a thorough function test is carried out. Through our quality inspection before disassembly and after reassembly, fiss guarantees the consistent quality of the machine before and after transport.
